Austin Dale Gaither, 17, of Riverview Road, Lexington passed away Friday June 2, 2023 in Lexington. Austin was born July 30, 2005 to Brandon Dale Gaither and Terri Marie Kilby both of Lexington. Growing up, Austin was a guy that loved to have fun, help others and be with his friends. Throughout his school years he played many different sports but enjoyed playing baseball the most. Beyond his competitive personality and sports, he had several jobs; he really enjoyed working for Fritts Farm. He started at Fritts Farm working only part time at first, but his love of being outside and always being busy quickly led to him working there full time. He also worked as a deliveryman for Smiley’s New Yorker Pizza. Because of that competitive personality, he prided himself as believing he was the fastest delivery guy there, always being quick and receiving good tips for it. He currently worked at Sam’s Car Wash in Lexington. At each of these jobs he was able to be outside, see and work with friends, be on the go, and do for others. Away from work, a hobby of his was buying, fixing up cars and then reselling them just for fun. But, his true passion was his motorcycle. He loved to ride. Aside from his jobs, his hobbies and his motorcycle, his big fun-loving heart caused him to want to and love to hang out with his family and friends, his dog, June, go fishing and just enjoy life and live it to the fullest every day.
Austin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Larry Potts; maternal grandparents, Doris and Frankie Hicks; Terry and Pat Kilby and paternal aunt, Amanda Potts. He is survived by his mother, Terri Marie Gaither and James Rose of Lexington and his father, Brandon Dale Gaither and Tabitha Troutman of Lexington; his sister, Kelly Gaither of Lexington; his paternal grandmother, Sherry Potts of Lexington; uncle, Steven Hewett of Trinity; aunt, Angela Jones and aunt, Shannon Gaither both of Lexington; cousins, Malik Millner of Lexington, Stephen Jones, Sr., Christopher Jones, Devin Potts, Kiana McLain, Kelly McBride, Briana Maner, Chloe Hewett and Evelyn Hewett.
